HIGH
CERVICAL REGION - ABOVE C3:
Injury to this area almost always results in quadriplegia and
affects all functioning below the head and neck level.
Very
high injuries can result in a loss of many involuntary functions
including the ability to breathe. The person may need breathing
aids such as mechanical
ventilators or diaphragmatic
pacemakers.
