UPPER
THORACIC REGION
(T1 - T8):
Injuries
at the thoracic level result in paraplegia affecting functioning
of the chest and abdominal muscles.
At
T1 to T8 there is most often control of the hands, but poor
trunk control as the result of lack of abdominal muscle control.
Most
paraplegics are able to push their own wheelchair and many
become avid athletes.
