SACRAL
REGION:
Injuries
at the sacral level mainly affect leg functioning, and bowel,
bladder, and sexual function.
Other
effects of SCI at all levels can include low blood pressure,
inability to regulate blood pressure effectively, reduced
control of body temperature, and inability to sweat below
the level of injury.
Spinal
cord injuries at all levels can also cause chronic pain that
is due to nerve damage. The pain may be felt below the level
of injury due to dysfunction in the central nervous system
called neuropathic
pain.
